Athens-Clarke police are investigating a shooting Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Parkview Homes, a housing complex between West Broad and Baxter streets.
Police spokesman Lt. Shaun Barnett said a woman was wounded and transported to a local hospital, but he did not know the extent of her injury.
The shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. along Weir Street, he said.
Information on a suspect was unavailable, according to Barnett.
The University of Georgia tweeted out an alert concerning the shooting Monday afternoon.
