Straight line winds were strong enough to rip the metal roof off the Parkers Chapel School District softball stadium Sunday, but the weather was pretty typical for a summer storm, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service said.
A school board and millage election was held Wednesday, in a scaled-down format called an election-by-candidate since no candidates were opposed and no millage rates would be changed.
In a text message to the News-Times, Union County Sheriff Ricky Roberts wrote, “Don’t know where this information is coming from. We are hearing the same rumors but they have not been confirmed!”
