Ever. This is the highest since it was started in 2010. The vast majority of schools with the highest rate of walkers have 75 or more on the reduced or Free Lunch Program and there is a connection to that. Biking is happening but more work to there. The walking drops dramatically when we get to sixth grade and 4 when we get to ninth grade. And then this is a survey thats done just of the schools that participate last year in the safe routes to School Program so we saw walk trips increase at nine of the 15 schools. That is 60 and bike trips increased at 40 of the schools and this is paused . And just to introduce our crossing Guard Program which has been very popular. This is application based. Any school can request it. Some of the criteria needs to be the k8. A corner must be designated as a crossing and have the yellow crosswalk and a minimum of 300 vehicles an hour and 10 pedestrians every 10 minutes. We offer free training for volunteers if schools want to add new help or locations
Department was directed to study and select new areas to be brought before the board before may 30, 2015. Following that process the Planning Department led a working group to study the topic that consisted of the department of the environment and the reck and Park Department as well as non profit agencies. But also the California Native Plant Society and [inaudible] alliance to work to determine new areas for nomination and this is really important in maximizing and expanding open space. The agency developed a new group of 4 pcas while incorporating the original idea to more clously represent urban city policies ewe adopted over weent years and we selected these different areas using a more focused scientific aroach to determine which areas are in the greatest need. For pca selected include pulow fellms natural area, bay viewit is south east neighborhoods of the city. Also green connections in mu claren park, pivot and number 4 is a trail connecting twin peeks. There is a lot of money coming into the xhounty. I call for this hearing because i want to know more fwt the Community Needs and i want to know more as well as the Community Needs to know where that money is flooding and it is going and how the money will be spent and more importantly when we can begin to see some of the results that we expect to see.
