Harold “Hal” Eddy Marshall, 79, of Charleston, S.C., died Monday, after a 20-year battle with cancer. He was raised in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Robert and Josephine Marshall.
Hal is survived by his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth “Sis” (Inabinet) Marshall; sister, JoEllen “Josie” Steinbrunner and her husband, Karl, of Duncansville; daughter, Candace Blackburn and her husband, Matt, of Tampa, Fla.; daughter, Kimberly Santamaria and her husband, John, of Saint Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren: Katherine “Katie” Santamaria, Christopher “Chris” Santamaria, Madeline “Maddie” Blackburn and Parker Blackburn; and his adored dogs, Ashley and Daisy.
Hal enlisted in the U. S. Navy, was selected for the NECEP program, and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in nuclear engineering physics. Upon graduation, Hal was handpicked by Admiral Rickover to become an officer in the nuclear power program. His military career spanned 37 years and include
