I m sitting down in front of my study room PC pondering what to write of the recent passing at age 96 of England s Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-serving monarch in U.K. history with over 70 years on the throne, and of my old buddy John Sheridan (at 74), long-time Korea Times columnist, who I originally met in 1982 when both of us worked in Seoul.

Hope for new politics By Park Yoon-bae One of the most contentious issues dominating South Korea all throughout the year is the feud between Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae and Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl. The feud culminated in mid-December when President Moon Jae-in approved a decision by a disciplinary committee under the Ministry of Justice to suspend Yoon from duty for two months. However, Yoon turned the tide in his favor when a Seoul court granted him an injunction against the decision Dec. 24. He seems to be the winner for now. The court action dealt a blow to Minister Choo who has gone too far in her drive against the top prosecutor. She leveled six counts of misdeed allegations against Yoon, including the collection of information about judges and the violation of political neutrality.

Korea Times file By Park Ji-won Park Yoon-bae, a veteran actor known for the role of Eungsam in Korea s longest-running TV drama series Jeonwon Ilgi, (Country Diaries), has died at the age of 73. The actor died Friday after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis since last year, according to the Korea Broadcasting Actors Union. Majoring in acting at Chung-Ang University and starting his acting career in 1969 in a play, he became an actor under exclusive contract to MBC in 1973.

(Photo : twitter) Park Yoon Bae Sadly Passed Away at The age of 73 Actor Park Yoon Bae who is widely recognized for his show, the MBC drama All-in-One Diary, has sadly passed at 73. It was reported that the actor passed away on the morning of Dec. 18 after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis. A family member Park Man Man, Park Yoon Bae s son, expressed in an interview that his father was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis last year. He was admitted to the hospital in June of this year. Park Yoon Bae majored in theater and film chemistry at Chung-Ang University then started taking the path of acting as a theater actor way back in 1969. Then in 1973, he debuted as the 6th public service talent in MBC. Following this, the actor had gained further recognition in the longest-running MBC drama titled Plan Diary in Korea. In the said drama, Park Yoon Bae portrayed the character of Eung Sam I.
