Heartland 200 will be raced on ice this year

The Heartland 200 snowmobile racing event, affiliated with Cor Powersports, will be raced on Fish Hook Lake Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28.
Butch De La Hunt, president and CEO of the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, announced the decision to race on the ice on Feb. 17, due to a lack of snow on the area’s woodland trails.

Gov. Tim Walz’s Executive Order 20-99 continues to set a tone for restaurants and bars in the Park Rapids area.
Put in place on Nov. 19, the order tightened restrictions on the hospitality industry, limiting bars and restaurants to carry-out, curbside service and delivery.
It was the second such hit to eating and drinking businesses since the state started taking emergency measures against the COVID-19 pandemic in March.
‘We’ll hang in there’
“We’re doing takeout at this time,” said Julie Sauer, owner of Lobo s Bar & Grille at Lake Itasca. “There’s not a lot of takeout, out in the country, out here. A little bit.”

Construction has begun all across the 337-mile route of Line 3, including along the Hubbard and Wadena county border in portions of the Shell River and Huntersville State Forest.
Work will continue for roughly nine months, according to Enbridge communications supervisor Juli Kellner. Residents of the county should not notice much disruption, Kellner said by email. We ask that residents be aware of and careful around any construction equipment they do see as it is being moved to our work sites.
