ISLAMABAD: The NAB Rawalpindi arrested former chairman Capital Development Authority Farkhand Iqbal for approval of handing over of possession of 118 kanals, 14 marla state land under management of CDA to private firm M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd in 2012. The arrest was made under Section 9 (a), (vi) and (xii) of National Accountability Ordinance, 1999. According to reasons of arrest, ex-chairman CDA Farkhand Iqbal, being CDA chairman knowingly and with mala fide intentions deliberately ignored the report of the environment wing where it was clearly stated that the land belongs to the state and is under possession of CDA. “However, he in connivance with other accused persons granted approval for handing over of possession of 18K-14M state land to private firm M/s Park Lane Estate Company (Pvt) Ltd,” according to a NAB official. ISLAMABAD: A senior retired bureaucrat and an-ex revenue official have turned out to be lucky detainees of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) having got bail just one month after their arrest in a case involving the aborted transfer of a piece of land to a company owned by Asif Ali Zardari and his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted post-arrest bail to former members of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) (2010 to 2012) and ex-interior secretary Mian Waheeduddin and former deputy Tehsildar Malik Iqbal.
They were taken into custody by NAB on June 12 and were given bail on July 14 by a two-member bench headed by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and comprising Justice Babar Sattar. The judgment has gone unnoticed, unreported.
