A senior Liverpool City Council director is being probed over a misogynistic post on his Twitter account which made reference to his mother-in-law drowning.
Children s services director Steve Reddy, who also leads the authority s domestic abuse strategy, made reference to his mother-in-law drowning in a car crash and suggested he had ordered a funeral wreath in the shape of a life-belt.
Mr Reddy has since deleted the tweet from his personal Twitter account and apologised unreservedly for the unintentional offence caused.
However Liverpool City Council is now facing calls to remove Mr Reddy from his position as chair of the authority s Domestic Abuse Strategy Group.
