Commentary: Strong parks for a strong Canton
Doug Foltz
The mission statement of Canton Parks and Recreation is to provide parks, recreational programs and events that enrich the community, encourage health and wellness and create memorable experiences that last a lifetime.
When the citizens of Canton voted to pass the existing 5-mill five-year levy in March 2016, it allowed us to fulfill our mission statement and commitment to the residents of the city of Canton.
These levy dollars have provided a stable revenue source that funds our 59 parks totaling 800 acres for maintenance and operations, recreational programming and capital improvements. Issue 2, which is not a tax increase, will allow us to continue to provide exceptional parks and recreational services.
