Rochester council to weigh in on park priorities

Work continues to determine how the $2 million generated each year through a recently approved parks referendum will be spent.
“It’s obvious we need to have really clear priorities with what we are going to be doing with this annual funding,” Parks and Recreation Director Paul Widman said.
Rochester boards question suggested charter changes
Members of Rochester s park and library boards have sent a letter to city leaders expressing disapproval of suggest changes to sections XIII and XIV of the city s Home Rule Charter.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Rochester s Park and Library boards are speaking out about suggested changes to the city s charter.
The leaders of both boards sent a letter to city council members expressing disapproval of the proposed changes, which would take away decision-making power from the groups, and grant them to the city council.
Park Board President Linnea Archer tells KIMT News 3 the proposed changes would limit opportunities for Rochester residents to get involved in local government, while not seeming to solve any existing issue.
