Young pilot killed in small-plane crash in Catahoula Parish

A crop-dusting aircraft crashed Tuesday into a field in northeast Louisiana, killing its pilot, authorities said.
The single-engine Air Tractor 502 crashed around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday along Louisiana 425, about five miles south of Sicily Island, according to a news release from the Northeast Louisiana Ambulance Service.
Catahoula Parish Sheriff Toney Edwards identified the pilot as Jakob T. Porter, 22, of Ferriday. Porter was pronounced dead at the scene, Edwards said. There were no passengers on board.
A preliminary accident notice by the Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was maneuvering during an aerial application when it crashed under unknown circumstances.
