Volunteers prepared bags of freshly cooked meals and handed them out to those who could make it to the venue. Those who couldn't, simply called and provided their address and phone number and the food reached their doorstep.
'The dinner is important this year, especially because many people lost power and had food go bad in the freezer, and many can’t cook,' said Kim Lawrence, who has helped organize a community meal in Winslow.
