The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a $30 million, two-year contract with offensive tackle Jonah Williams, according to a person familiar with the deal. The 6-foot-5, 312-pound Williams has started the past four seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals after being selected with the 11th overall pick of the 2019 draft out of Alabama. As news of the deal with Williams broke, the Cardinals also announced they were releasing veteran offensive lineman D.J. Humphries, who will likely miss at least part of next season with a torn ACL.
The Arizona Cardinals just finished a 4-13 season, which is exactly the same record they had in 2022. The Cardinals' first season under a new regime — coach Jonathan Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort — ended on Sunday with a 21-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks after Cardinals kicker Matt Prater missed a 51-yard field goal on the final play. The game was a microcosm of Arizona's season: competitive and entertaining, but ultimately disappointing.
TEXANS PLAYER TO WATCH: WR Noah Brown set career highs with seven catches for 172 yards last week for the most yards receiving by a Texan since 2019. He joins Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins as the only players in franchise history with back-to-back 150-yard receiving games after having 153 yards two weeks ago. KEY MATCHUP: Houston QB C.J. Stroud vs. Arizona's pass defense.
Kyler Murray was back to doing Kyler Murray things on Sunday, flinging footballs downfield, evading would-be tacklers with his uncanny scrambling ability and generally being a nightmare to contain for the Atlanta Falcons' defense. “It felt normal," the 26-year-old quarterback said. The Arizona Cardinals couldn't agree more.
