Panic-stricken Mamuju residents flee homes following Sunday earthquake 1st February 2021

ANTARA/M Faisal Hanapi Mamuju, W Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Several residents of Mamuju, West Sulawesi, that were overcome by shock following a 6.2-magnitude earthquake that claimed 105 lives on January 15, again fled their homes, Sunday evening, as a 4.5-magnitude quake hit the city.
The residents scampered to get into their vehicles and headed quickly to the city s higher ground over fears of a tsunami. Several of these people, who had just returned home after staying at temporary shelters, again decided to take refuge there, according to several residents.
Indonesia s Kalimantan hit by first earthquake in 2021: BMKG 29th January 2021

The agency recorded that the Berau earthquake of magnitude 4.1 was the first quake to hit Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of Borneo Island, this year.
The epicenter of this 77th earthquake that struck at around 00:42 a.m. local time on Friday was located some 62 kilometers (km) away from the east of Tanjung Rebeb City in Berau District, at a depth of 10 km, the agency s coordinator for earthquake and tsunami affairs, Daryono, stated.
At least three people died while 24 others suffered injuries in a 6.2-magnitude earthquake ensued by several aftershocks that rattled Majene District, West .
Waropen District in Papua hit by 5.7-magnitude earthquake 13th January 2021

Epicenter of the earthquake that occurred at 1:17 a.m. local time on Wednesday was located some 30 kilometers (km) away from southeast of Waropen District, at a depth of 74 km.
The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
Strong earthquakes have repeatedly jolted certain parts of Papua over the past decade. On January 18, 2020, a 6.0-magnitude tectonic earthquake rattled the districts of Jayapura and Sarmi in this eastern Indonesian province.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) confirmed the receipt of immediate reports of casualties and damages in the aftermath of the earthquake that was noted as the first occurrence in the area on the first day of 2021.
The tremors of the earthquake, whose epicenter was located some 21 kilometers (km) away from northwest of Tambolaka, the capital of Sumba Barat Daya District, at a depth of 83 km, triggered fear and panic among several residents, who fled their houses.
