Taipei, May 16 (CNA) Amid a rise in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the Taipei City government on Sunday announced that four elementary schools in the city s Wanhua District will close for one week from Monday in an effort to curb the rapid spread of the virus in the district.
The four elementary schools are Taipei Municipal Lao-Song Elementary School, Taipei Municipal LongShan Elementary School, Taipei Municipal Ying-Qiao Elementary School and Taipei Municipal ShuangYuan Elementary School.
Meanwhile, ninth graders and 12th graders at high schools in the Taipei and New Taipei will be allowed to move to remote learning instead of going to school in person, also starting Monday.

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) â The Buffalo Public School District is preparing to bring more than 5,000 additional students back to the classroom next week.
Preparations have been underway for districtâs phase 2 reopening plan.

âIâm so impressed with our students because they really have complied with the mask usage and social distancing,â remarked Cheryl Kennedy, director of transportation.
Kennedy, who leads the districtâs transportation center, says students who returned last month have followed COVID rules on school buses.
