DSWD 7 denies barring lumad kid from meeting her father

SunStar + March 02, 2021 THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 denied allegations that it withheld an IP child in its custody from her father. “The father and child were allowed to meet and talk at the facility of the department last Feb. 26,” said DSWD 7 in a press statement. The IP child is among the lumad children “rescued” from a Lumad bakwit school in Cebu City last month. RELATED STORY DSWD 7 said that it followed standard procedures and requested the father to wait for the Parenting Capability Assessment Report (PCAR) to be issued by the local social welfare and development office where the family resides before deciding on appropriate actions to be made.
