Volunteers at St Helens vaccine centre praised for incredible work during pandemic

THROUGHOUT the past 10 months, our lives have changed completely, but the latest vaccinations offer a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Here we shine a spotlight on some of the volunteers and support staff at the mass vaccination centre at Saints Totally Wicked Stadium. Our first volunteer is Calvin Grover, 63. Calvin Glover Calvin moved to Thatto Heath from Portsmouth several years ago to be closer to his son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons, Jake 13 and Joshua, 10. He’s been a volunteer at St Helens and Knowsley Hospitals NHS Trust for four years, and before the pandemic he was on hand to offer support to patients and staff in the Accident & Emergency department.

Accrington man assaulted police officer and said coronavirus is a hoax A YOUNG man from Accrington assaulted a police officer at the weekend Lancashire s assistant chief constable revealed as he spoke out about people flouting coronavirus laws. Peter Lawson was speaking on BBC Radio Lancashire about having one of the busiest weekends issuing 180 tickets for people breaching COVID regulations. He said: We have been following the four Es of engaging, explaining, encouraging and then taking enforcement but we have had to move more quickly to enforcement. The real problem we have experienced over the past weekend we have had groups of young people - especially lads in their 20s - who think the regulations don t apply to them.
