It s been a crazy school year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but Franklin County students in the Class of 2021 are about to emerge on the other side as high-school graduates.
Graduation season kicks off this week for the county s school districts. Commencement ceremonies will be in-person and, save for masks and social distancing, back to normal.
Here is a list of when local public schools will graduate their seniors. Keep in mind that for most of these, only ticket holders may enter the door/gate. Outdoor ceremonies may be affected by inclement weather.
Be sure to check back over the next couple of weeks to see photos from these graduation ceremonies.

The Louisiana Department of Health releases weekly updates on reported COVID-19 cases in schools, including adults and students.
The weekly reports tell how many schools in a parish are enrolled in reporting, but do not give a specific district or campus breakdown of positive cases.
Across the state, 284 new student cases were reported April 26-May 2, as were 56 new cases among adults.
As of the May 5 LDH report, the parishes with the highest totals in student cases are:
St. Tammany: 2,415
Lafayette: 1,218
Terrebonne: 31
St. Tammany: 770

Good Wednesday morning!
Since yesterday was a relatively slow political news day, I’ll lead with some news that touches on a personal pet peeve.
State Sen. Kristin Corrado recently introduced a bill that would penalize people who leave their shopping cart in handicap spaces with $250 fines.
