ZIMBABWE – A ZVIMBA traditional leader has ordered the exhumation and reburial of former State President Robert Mugabe at the National Heroes Acre.
This is according to a letter by the defiant traditional leader, which was also shared on social media by the late leaderâs one-time spokesperson Jealousy Mawarire.
Mugabeâs widow, Grace last week boycotted a hearing convened by Paramount Chief Zvimba who was accusing the former First Lady of burying her husband in his courtyard against custom in his area. The hearing went on and a ruling was passed in Graceâs absence.
âI give powers to those who are permitted by law to exhume the late Robert Mugabeâs remains from Kutama and rebury them at the National Heroes Acre in Harare,â read the Shona ruling by Chief Zvimba.
ZIMBABWE – Former First Lady, Grace Mugabe has been fined five cattle and two goats for violating traditional customs and rites in the burial of her husband, the late ex-president Robert Mugabe, Local newsmen report.
Mugabe who died in Singapore in September 2019 was buried in the family rural homeâs courtyard at Kutama Village under Paramount Chief Zvimba, born Stanley Urayayi Mhondoro.
Grace was summoned to appear before Chief Zvimbaâs traditional court on Thursday at Gonzo Guzha Hall at Murombedzi growth point in Zvimba but snubbed the hearing.
The court venue, Gonzo Guzha Hall, was reportedly teeming with state security personnel, who included armed police officers, police intelligence members, and Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) operatives as early as 8 AM on Thursday.
