Perfumes: Towards ecoresponsible exploitation of guaiac wood with Nelixia

Nelixia has developed sustainable perfume plant production chains for 12 years, but guaiac wood (
Bulnesia sarmientoi) [1] is one of the first cases they have communicated about. In March 2020, CITES [2] banned the import in Europe of this wood’s products again and required its sustainable exploitation in the Chaco region of Paraguay, which meant thousands of perfumes were doomed to be reformulated. Two years ago, Nelixia, a Guatemala-based natural ingredient supplier, started to set up an ecoresponsible alternative of guaiac wood essencial oil.
