The tender process is opening for the new bridge that will link Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay with Puerto Murtinho in Brazil. The bridge will span the Paraguay River. The project is expected to cost US$79 million, with the necessary financing being supplied by Itaipu. The bidding process is being handled by the local authorities in Carmelo Peralta, instead of by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works, which was originally going to oversee the tender.
Meanwhile, a contract for work on the new bridge linking Presidente Franco in Paraguay with Foz de Yguacu in Brazil has been awarded. A joint venture, Consorcio Vial Esteno, comprising DC Ingenieria and TR Construcciones won the $19 million package of works for the first section of the bridge. There were 12 bidders for the work.
