Graceful in defeat, the Irish mixed martial arts star believes he’s on the “correct path of evolution” and is now looking forward to a possible trilogy with the former interim UFC lightweight champion.
“I deserved to get the legs kicked off me going in with this thinking. This is not the game to play around with,” added McGregor.
That said, it looks like the reported match with the eight-division world boxing champion would be shelved for now.
Prior to UFC 257, earlier reports said Audie Attar of Paradigm Sports Management, who handles both Pacquiao and McGregor, were discussing the boxing match.

It looks like the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor won’t be happening anytime soon.
This after McGregor’s knockout loss to Dustin Poirier in UFC 257 doused cold water to the possibility of a showdown between the Irish star and the Filipino champion.
“Very unfortunate, it looked like Conor looked past Dustin and got knocked out,” Sean Gibbons, president of Manny Pacquiao Promotions, told the SunSport. “Maybe he had the Senator on his mind. I think the demand for the fight is not there presently.”
It would be recalled that McGregor earlier said his fight against Pacquiao is “almost a certainty this year.”

UFC star Conor McGregor said the much-hyped fight against Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is “almost a certainty” this year.
McGregor is set to return in the Octagon on Sunday for a rematch against Dustin Poirier in UFC 257, and talks about the Pacquiao boxing match will soon resurface after the UFC comeback.
“It’s almost a certainty,” McGregor told Sportsnet’s Arash Madani as reported by boxingscene.com. “I’m hearing there’s a contract and all coming… it’s that close. We haven’t [spoken yet] but it should happen in 2021.”
