Senegalese journalist Pape Ale Niang was arrested by the police on July 29 following a live-streamed video on YouTube commenting on the detention of opposition leader Ousman Sonko, reported AFP. The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) condemned in the strongest terms the arbitrary arrest of Pape Ale Niang and called on the authorities to safeguard freedom of expression and media freedom as it is expected in a democratic state.
