A man is missing after a fishing trip off the rocks at Papanui Point in Raglan.
A man is missing after not returning to shore following a fishing trip off the coast of Raglan on Sunday. The man in his forties notified a friend yesterday that he was going to fish off the rocks at Papanui Point and would be returning that afternoon. The man’s vehicle was later located in the Papanui Point car park and his belongings located on the beach. Search and Rescue have been searching the area on Monday but have been unable to find the man and Waikato police are now appealing for public assistance.

A search is under way for a missing fisherman who failed to return from a fishing trip at Papanui Point near Raglan on Sunday afternoon.
A friend raised the alarm last night at 10pm after the man, in his 40s, did not come back after fishing off the rocks at the end of Ruapuke Beach yesterday afternoon.

The man, in his 40s, notified a friend yesterday that he was going to fish off the rocks at Papanui Point and would be returning that afternoon, police said.
The man’s vehicle was later located in the Papanui Point carpark, while his belongings were found on the beach.
A search and rescue team has been in the area to help locate the man today but has been unsuccessful, police said.
Anyone who has been in the Papanui Point area since yesterday morning and has witnessed anything of note has been urged to contact police on 105, quoting file number 210503/2078.
