The Millat Express train left Daharki station at 03:28am. Information was received at 03:43am that the train had derailed at 03:38am. Meanwhile, the Sir Syed Express train passed through Raiti at 03:38am. As the coaches of the derailed train were infringing the down track, the driver tried to apply emergency brakes but the locomotive hit the infringing coaches at 03:38am, a PR statement said.
As a result of this accident, six coaches of Millat Express were derailed and five coaches overturned, while two coaches of the Sir Syed Express train were derailed and three overturned, it added, stating that 31 people had been killed while more than 100 had been injured.

Thirteen passengers were killed and 30 injured after a bus overturned on the National Highway near Pannu Aqil s Kalar Goth early Thursday.
The bus was travelling from Multan to Karachi. The injured have been moved to the Civil Hospital, Sukkur.
The deceased passengers were sitting on the roof of the bus, the witnesses said, adding that they were mostly labourers.
No SOPs were being followed by the driver, the rescue teams said. On May 16, Pakistan resumed inter-city and inter-provincial transport. Bus drivers and owners were told to run their vehicles at 50% occupancy.

A student of the University of Sindh in Jamshoro, identified as Irfan Jatoi, was found dead near Sukkur s Pannu Aqil Tuesday.
According to the victim s family and friends, the police picked him up from the varsity s hostel on February 8 claiming that Jatoi was named in over 20 FIRs and had been on the run. They kept my son in custody for over a month, the student s father said. When we went for his bail, they asked us to pay Rs25,000.

NAWABSHAH: At least three people were killed and 30 people were injured near Nawabshah on Sunday after poor visibility due to dense morning fog resulted in a traffic pile-up involving 16 vehicles, Geo News reported.
The pile-up which occurred on a highway near Nawabshah, involved four passenger buses, four passenger vans, three cars, four trailers and one truck. Television footage showed rescue workers working through a long row of mangled vehicles.
State media reported that dense fog engulfed several parts of the country causing major disturbances in air, road and railway traffic, particularly in the mornings and evenings.
Dense fog was reported at Daharki, Gambat, Pannu Aqil, Karamabad and Khairpur on Sukkur section of the motorway, the Motorway South Zone police stated. Fog also covered the National Highway at Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Harappa, Cheechawatani, Mian Channu, Khaniwal and Multan.
