OPSU Receives Certified Healthy Oklahoma Award of Excellence Second Year in a Row Panhandle State Communications on 04/14/2021 Oklahoma Panhandle State University received the Excellence Award for being a Certified Healthy Campus for the second year in a row. Panhandle State will be recognized virtually at the annual Certified Healthy Oklahoma event on June 24th. The Panhandle State Wellness Committee members are Dana Collins, Amber Hollis-Fesmire, Calandra Rose, Stacy Norquist, and Rene Ramon. This group is committed to providing services and activities for students, employees, and area communities geared toward campus well-being. University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, “The Wellness Committee continues to promote new and exciting ways for us all to stay healthy. Thank you to this group of individuals who have helped us achieve this excellent status.”

Esparza Named Athletic Director at Panhandle State Panhandle State Communications on 04/14/2021 Oklahoma Panhandle State University is proud to announce Victor Esparza as the University s Athletic Director. Esparza has deep roots at Panhandle State as he graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education. During his time, he played on the Baseball team. He went on to receive his Master of Education in Sports Administration in 2013 from East Central University. University President, Dr. Tim Faltyn stated, I am so proud of the hard work Vic has already put into this position while being Interim since Fall of 2020. His dedication and commitment to student excellence in the classroom, as well as elite college athletes is balanced by his heart of service.

Nothin’ But Try Jackpot growing NFR steer wrestler and college rodeo coach Garrett Nokes is the latest honoree at the Nothin’ But Try Jackpot. This year’s event will take place May 8, 2021, in Coleman, Okla., at the U-Cross Arena. A steer wrestling match between the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Great Plains and Central Plains Region will be held during the jackpot to honor Nokes and his “Nothin’ But Heart” legacy.
