Nine lemons, which were considered sacred after being kept on the deity's spear in a temple in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu were auctioned at Rs 2.36 lakh (approx. $28,309) by the authorities on Tuesday (Mar 26).
The reason why the lemons were sold at such a hefty price is because the devotees believed that consuming them would bring prosperity to the families and cure infertility.
