Pleasanton city officials unveiled their new "Gift Pleasanton" on Tuesday, aiming to incentivize residents to patronize local businesses by offering them a digital gift card after spending locally.
REGIONAL â Despite concerns over a weak economy as the Tri-Valley emerges from the pandemic with some popular local haunts shut down, some local experts are saying it wasnât all that bad.
A few flagship stores â Nordstrom s in Pleasanton, and Domâs Outdoor Outfitters and Vanâs Health Foods of Livermore â have shut down, victims of the shelter-in-place orders issued across the country last March. But many others have moved in to take their places.
âIâd say we havenât been victimless, just like our surrounding communities, but really, in this COVID-era, Iâve been seeing a lot of new businesses opening and taking over from businesses that have closed,â said Hazel Wetherford, Dublinâs economic development director. âWe had a Mediterranean fast casual restaurant close and within a few weeks, Nick the Greek was already moving in. So, we are seeing a lot of those opportunities.â
