Perinton pair charged in cat-hoarding situation
A Perinton man and woman have been charged in connection with a cat-hoarding situation uncovered by firefighters who responded to a Jan. 14 blaze at 14 Kreag Road.
George and Pamela Meyer are accused of failing to provide sustenance (veterinary care), a misdemeanor, and have been ordered to appear in Perinton Town Court on April 13. If convicted, they could face up to a $1,000 fine and/or up to one year in prison.
On the day of the fire, which was confined to one room, George Meyer told authorities that around 30 cats lived in the house. However, workers from Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, ended up removing 100 cats and kittens from the residence.

A Perinton couple have been arrested by Humane Law Enforcement investigators after over 100 cats were found in their home following a house fire.
The fire back in January on Kreag Road led to the discovery of dozens of cats and kittens living in unsanitary and inhumane conditions.
Lollypop Farm staff says they were called to the house and found areas where feces had built up to being inches thick.
Several dead cats were also found, appearing to have died and decomposed prior to the fire.
