SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY Therapy animals come in all shapes and sizes. On Wednesday, residents at a Hudson Valley retirement community spent time with, what could be considered, unconventional support animals: two miniature therapy horses.
Aiden and Pearl, mini-horses trained as companion and therapy animals, spent the morning with memory care and skilled nursing care residents at Kendal on Hudson in Sleepy Hollow.
The pint-sized horses were trotted out at the community s Sunnyside Garden, a terrace overlooking the Hudson River.

A pair of mini therapy horses brought big smiles to residents at older adult community in Sleepy Hollow.
Long Island-based Horseability is a center for equine programs to help with people s physical, psychological and emotional well-being, and today they visited residents at Kendal on Hudson.
Margaret Ann Roth, a resident, says she has a passion for horses and was inspired to team up with Horseability to bring a different touch of joy and peace to her fellow residents after a long and challenging year during the pandemic. They re the most important thing probably in my life. And when I discovered that a friend I ride with, she works with a place that had many therapy horses, I thought, I got to bring them. Everybody s got to play.
