Thursday, February 25, 2021 Most of the Eureka Springs School District staff is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. At the Eureka Springs School Board’s regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18, Superintendent Bryan Pruitt announced that the 70 members of the staff who had received an initial dose of the vaccine would receive the second round of vaccinations on Wednesday, Feb. 24. The staff received the first round of vaccinations on Jan. 27. Pruitt said he had hoped to administer the second round on Feb. 19, but it was difficult to get everything arranged in such a short period of time. “I contacted our school nurse and she contacted our pharmacists and they said it wouldn’t be available that day,” Pruitt said. “It just wouldn’t work out.”

Thursday, January 21, 2021 The Eureka Springs School Board is extending its leave for staff members affected by COVID-19. On Monday, Jan. 11, Superintendent Bryan Pruitt explained that the district received state aid to cover 10 days of COVID-19 leave per staff member in 2020. Pruitt said that aid expired on Dec. 19 but has been extended in 2021 through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Pruitt asked the board to approve the extended leave and the board unanimously agreed to do so. Pruitt also reported that the district has received additional stimulus funds, saying it would be a good idea to use those funds for HVAC work and technology needs.
