1/1 During this year s LGBT History month, it is a time for reflection and celebration for the wider community. In Cumbria, a host of selfless and dedicated campaigners and volunteers have ensured that acceptance, through representation, campaigning for rights and education, has improved greatly over the years. One key figure in Cumbria has been Pam Eland, who serves as Pride in North Cumbria s vice-chair. Based in Carlisle, the charity provides social and support services to LGBT+ people, aged between 13 and 25 years. There s still not enough education about LGBT history, she explains. A lot of people don t know much about Stonewall, for example. It s about not forgetting history. I ve fought for getting issues recognised.
