The Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday to explore placing an expansion of the hospital’s taxing district on the November general election ballot.
The Pullman Regional Hospital Board has agreed to move forward with a plan to try to expand the agency’s taxing district boundaries. The commissioners voted almost unanimously Wednesday night to begin work on placing a ballot measure before voters this Fall.
Currently, only property owners in the City of Pullman pay taxes to the hospital. The board’s plan calls for expanding the local government entity’s taxing authority past city limits to the Pullman School District boundaries and to add all of the property owners in the Palouse School District. Only the people who would be annexed into the taxing district would decide on the ballot measure in November. The measure would require a simple majority approval for passage.
