Sewer system. It is still a very dangerous situation. The ground is saturated. We are continuing to fight water that is seeping through the system and coming in from our storm sewers. We also want to note that while we hope everyones firstfloor elevations are dry, we will still have many people with water in their basements. The city is urging people to stay out of the flood zone so crews can work, especially as the water goes down. Cedar rapids is trying to figure of sandbags throughout the city once theyre not needed anymore. And the city says its bus system wont run through friday. School is off for the rest of the week in the cedar rapids district. The district says its because of transportation issues and safety concerns. Classes will resume next monday. The calendar for this school year listed no school on monday. But now classes will be in session that day. Friday, two emergency shelters remain open in cedar rapids.
