Most of Wednesday, the first day of the three-week trial, involved Osgood’s partner Kelly Tyacke giving evidence. She was in a relationship with Eaton until sometime around April 2020, with the pair having two children together, before starting a relationship with Osgood. Eaton sent multiple threatening messages, including telling Tyacke to send Osgood to the door as he had a shotgun shell with “[Osgood’s] name on it”. Osgood, Tyacke and a friend were having coffee at Rugby St before Eaton turned up on September 8. Tyacke said she saw Eaton, wearing the stab-proof vest and armed with the same knife, and Osgood having an altercation over a gate.
