FAU announces largest gift in school’s history to benefit Holocaust and Jewish studies Faran Fagen, Special to The Palm Beach Post © Handout Marilyn and Kurt Wallach have gifted $20 million to create the Kurt and Marilyn Wallach Institute for Holocaust and Jewish Studies housed in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. Kurt Wallach was 7 when he and his family fled the Nazis in Magdeburg, Germany, in 1933. What ensued was a three-year journey that led to a new beginning in the United States. Wallach wants to ensure his experience and those like his are remembered.
