it cannot be more perfect. also, call about a secretary of state, jena griswold is going to join us. colorado is headed apparently to the supreme court without trump. the only thing all those people have in common is that they would like to supreme court to actually weigh in on this thing and get it moving. i am excited to hear the conversation. it s going to be the year at the supreme court. thanks, ali. tonight, 77-year-old donald trump is asking a court where he appointed three of the nine judges to save his presidential campaign. donald trump s lawyers have filed an appeal, asking the united states supreme court to overturn the decision by the colorado state supreme court to ban donald trump from the presidential ballot in colorado. colorado supreme court s decision is based on the 14th amendment, which is ratified in 1868. it does not allow officers of the federal government to be elected to office again if they have engaged in insurrection against the united state
the region. and israel is on the side of the resilience coalition. but obviously, israel itself is divided between a far-right group that wants to resist, you know, future integration, and i still think the majority of israelis who want to be part of that, you know, brazilians coalition, that s the struggle here. that s why ukraine matters. that s why gazan matters. hamas is a terrible organization. first and foremost, lawrence, for the palestinian people. okay? because it s a rule in gaza since 2007 has been a disaster for the people of gaza. and it had choices we and it made. terrible choices for the palestinian people. at the same time, israel has a minority. a far-right minority that has captured the prime minister, that wants to impose terrible choices on israeli society.
but i don t think forcing gazan civilians out of gaza is anything that it will actually implement. so i m glad the state department drew a red line, but i don t think it s something, you know, that we re gonna see. but it s emblematic, you know, lawrence, of this war. what is new about it is that on both the israeli and palestinian side, you have the worst of the worst. really, in the driver seat. on the palestinian side, you have the worst of the palestinian political movement, which is the military leadership of hamas, driving this. hamas has a certain number of pragmatists. this is the worst of the worst of hamas driving it from its side. and on the israeli side, you have a prime minister who has a broad cabinet now with many moderates in it, but is captive of the worst of the worst from the israeli side.
with the israeli government after two israeli officials supported driving the palestinian people out of gaza. what one of them called, quote, a project to encourage the migration of gazan residents to countries around the world. state department spokesperson matt miller responded this way. the rhetoric we ve seen from those two individuals was inflammatory. it was irresponsible, and it was in direct contradiction of the policy of the government in israel that has been repeatedly articulated to us, including by the prime minister himself. so, we have been told that those statements do not reflect the policy of the government of israel. we believe that is the correct decision. the secretary has made very clear on a number of occasions that there must be no forest resettlement of palestinians from gaza, that gaza is palestinian land and should remain sow, and we will continue to make that clear to
and so, if the choices israel permanently controlling gaza or hamas, at this stage, if i were israel, i would want hamas having the responsibility for rebuilding the place. if the choice is israel paving the way for a transformed palestinian authority running in gaza after israel defeats hamas, that is, i think, much preferable for the palestinian people, for israel, and for american interests. when president biden went to israel, in his speech, we heard the phrase, two state solution, which had become almost extinct in the language of the conflict there over the years. we the netanyahu administration seemed to willfully drive that phrase out of usage and out of the realm of possibility. yeah.
