Star Wars characters reimagined by EJ Cabangon in his latest works

EJ Cabangon’s latest works Through the years, the “Star Wars” franchise has been a prime source of pop culture references. It has brought to the screen a galactic adventure, shaping our hunger for wonder and space. And as its legion of fans continue to grow, more art in different mediums are being produced to honor the cinematic masterpiece. Among them are the latest works of EJ Cabangon. Continuing the saga, the artist painted famous characters from “Star Wars” for his exhibit dubbed as “Flux: EJ Cabangon.” With a seemingly light-hearted subject, Cabangon is inclined to thrust such personalities from our childhood to allow us to deliberate on the flux of his works, as it moves, and disappears. This is one of the artist’s ways in combating the stress and confusion brought by the pandemic.

Pakistan Pavilion at the 2021 Venice Biennale Discovers New Architectural Typologies Inspired by Weddings

Copy Titled Mapping Festivities , the Pakistan Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, explores the national wedding hall as an architectural typology of post-colonial Pakistan. Curated by Sara M. Anwar, the pavilion will be on display on the second floor of the Palazzo Mora from May 22nd until November 21st. The Shaadi Hall is a traditional Pakistani typology that serves the wedding ‘performance’ which first appeared in the early 1980s to address the needs of the fast-growing population of the city of Karachi. Residential villas were transformed into wedding spaces through architectural interventions such as billboard-inspired entrance façades, which created a perforated layer between the space of the city and the newly-implemented space.

Venice Biennale 2018: Collateral Events Announced

Copy The Venice Biennale has released a list of 13 Collateral Events that will take place alongside the 16th International Architecture Exhibition, FREESPACE, curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara and chaired by Paolo Baratta. Previews of the main event begin May 24th and 25th, with the exhibition open to the public from May 26th to November 25th, 2018.
