KOROR, Palau (Island Times, June 8, 2015) – House of Delegates passed on first reading a senate bill amending Chapter 1, Subchapter IV of Title 27 of the Palau National Code, to add a new Section regarding fishing by non-citizens in the waters of Palau during its June 3 session.
Senate Bill No. 9-7 aims to regulate fishing of non-citizen individuals within Palau waters Palau but it does not regulate commercial fishing companies. The intention of the bill seems to be to regulate and to prevent abusive fishing practices.
