WATCH: This Christmas, Let’s Make Sure no One is Truly Home Alone Local theatre company Arthaus, have put together a promotional video for the festive season combining the talents of their creatives, as well as those of The Palace String Orchestra. For many performers, artists, singers, and musicians, these past few months have been challenging and we have all been away from a place which we call home, be it a studio, a theatre, an auditorium, or even a rehearsal space.     Arthaus and The Palace String Orchestra have teamed up to present a fitting Christmas 2020 message, as what can be easily nicknamed ‘the year of uncertainty’ comes to an end.

A collaboration between theatre company Arthaus and the Palace String Orchestra resulted in a promotional ‘quarantine Christmas’ video shot in Valletta. The actors and the musicians collaborated to create a piece intended to capture the difficulties presented by a year dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic. “While we cannot be with our loved ones as usual this Christmas, our message is simple. “This Christmas, make sure no one is truly home alone – a phone call, a text, a video call and even a traditional Christmas card will certainly do the trick,” the creators said. The Palace String Orchestra will be performing in the upcoming NYE 2021 Valletta Variety Show, a live television show that will be hosted by the Valletta Cultural Agency on December 31.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday VCA chairman Jason Micallef said that after discussions between the Valletta Cultural Agency and the Culture Ministry the decision was made to hold the ‘NYE Valletta Variety Show’ however, closed to the public and televised. The three-hour show will be broadcast on TVM, NET and One between 10pm and 1am.

The annual Valletta celebrations ushering in the new year will not be taking place in St George’s Square, but instead be televised live from Fort St Elmo. After a number discussions which have been taking place since summer, the Valletta Cultural Agency and the Culture Ministry have decided to still hold the NYE Valletta Variety Show , keep it close for the public and televise it live from Fort St Elmo, VCA chair Jason Micallef said on Monday. Flanked by Minister Jose Herrera, he provided details about the event at a press conference at Fort St Elmo. The three-hour show will be broadcast on TVM, NET and One between 10pm and 1am.
