Pakistan PM Imran Khan Wins Trust Vote With 178 Votes in National Assembly
The floor test took place without the opposition as the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of 11 parties, boycotted the voting.

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday won a trust vote in the national assembly amid a boycott call by the opposition parties, strengthening his government’s legitimacy after an embarrassing defeat of the finance minister in the hotly-contested senate elections.
Prime Minister Khan secured 178 votes in the 342-member lower house of parliament during a special session convened on the directives of President Arif Alvi. A total of 172 votes was needed for a simple majority.

Dawn reported. Khan had sought the vote after his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, suffered a setback in the recently-held Senate elections.
The session was marked by an Opposition boycott of the vote. Earlier in the day, clashes also broke out between government supporters and members of the Pakistan Muslim League (N).
Khan secured 178 votes in the trust vote, six more than the number needed to win confidence. As many as 155 leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf voted for Khan.

Although the results have fairly been consistent with the parties strengths, the defeat of Imran Khan s party s top leader has strengthened the opposition camp to launch a fierce attack against the government.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan has sent advice to President Alvi under article 91 to summon special session of the National Assembly for a vote of confidence which is likely to take place on Saturday.
The vote comes as PM Imran Khan's party suffered a setback in the Senate elections after Imran's close aide Abdul Hafeez Shaikh lost a key seat to opposition candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani.
