In a major breakthrough, the special branch and criminal intelligence wing of Mohali police arrested an aide of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and seized foreign-made pistols dropped by a drone at Pakistan border.
A police spokesperson said the trio was nabbed from a naka following a tip-off. He said the heroin packets recovered from the accused had three rings attached to it, clearly indicating that it was carried by drone and dropped by unhook mechanism.
A senior official in the Pakistan government has admitted that Pakistani smugglers are using drones to smuggle illicit drugs, mostly heroin into Indian territory.
