National Running Day comes every year on June 2, and metro Detroit has a variety of great spots to take a run or a walk. Check out some of the best places for a run below.
When: May 21-22 Lake Orion, Michigan – Genisys Credit Union and T-Mobile presents the 20th annual Flower & Art Fair in Downtown Lake Orion. This Spring fair will feature a variety of local vendors that will have flowers, plants and decorative elements for lawns and homes. There will be local businesses who will showcase landscaping and home improvements ideas. Vendors will be placed on the streets in Downtown Lake Orion. The Orion Art Center will be hosting on-site DIY projects and a Succulent Search and Shop event. New this year; there will be a Beer Garden, in the parking lot at Front and Anderson Streets, that will feature live music, food trucks, cornhole, games and bar. Plus, Upland Hills Farm will have a petting farm on site on Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 9am – 3pm.
Inside|Out program brings art to Paint Creek Trail

ROCHESTER/ROCHESTER HILLS/OAKLAND TOWNSHIP The Detroit Institute of Arts’ 2021 Inside|Out program will once again bring art to the Rochester area this summer.
Amanda Harrison, the DIA’s community engagement manager for Oakland County, said the art museum launched the project in 2010.
“This is a wonderful project that was inspired from our director at the time, who took a trip to Europe and noticed these works of art from the museums there out in the community. It’s an unexpected way to experience these masterpieces from a world-class museum in your own space,” she said.
Oakland Township preps for new trailhead at north end of Paint Creek Trail
A new Paint Creek Junction Park trailhead near the Paint Creek Trail, off of Orion Road, is slated to include a parking lot, a rest area and more.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP Trail users will soon have a new place to access the northern end of the Paint Creek Trail.
Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Director Mindy Milos-Dale said the township is in the process of adding a new trailhead at Paint Creek Junction Park, north of Adams and Orion roads, which will service the northern part of the Paint Creek Trail.
