Determined to boost food security in the country and create jobs, the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) said it has improved the capacity of over 100 rice farmers in Niger State in the area of irrigation farming.
The NALDA state coordinator, Mr. Aminu Umaru, during a tour of the 417 hectares of land acquired by local farmers for the irrigation farming in Paikoro Local Government Area of the state, pointed out that the farmers were specifically exposed to irrigation rice farming and upland rice farming in order to harness the potentials of the River Kaduna as well as improve the income of the indigent community, which was restricted to fishing alone before the intervention if the authority in January.

Niger State Task Force on COVID-19 has said no corps member inside the Paiko NYSC Orientation camp in Paikoro Local Government Area of the state tested positive for COIVD-19.
The task force, however, added that some prospective corp members who tested positive recently have been taken to the isolation centre and are in very stable condition.
This was contained in a statement issued by Commissioner of Health and Secretary, Niger State Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Muhammad Muhammad Makusidi, and made available to newsmen on Sunday in Minna, the state capital.
The statement pointed out that all those who tested positive were not allowed entry into the camp but were taken to Minna for PCR confirmation saying, “once confirmed, such case is admitted into the state’s isolation centre and treated.”

Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits have killed six persons and abducted five persons in yet another attack in 12 villages in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.
About 20 other persons were said to have sustained varying degrees of injury during the attack.
Nigerian Tribune investigation gathered that the bandits carried out the attacks on the villages in the early hours of Saturday and sustained their operations till Sunday afternoon.
A resident of one of the villages attacked, Abubakar Azaido said in a telephone interview with the Nigerian Tribune that over 20 injured persons have been taken for medical treatment at the General Hospital in Kaffin Koro, adding that no fewer than 3,000 villagers have also been displaced.
