Northern Advocate Vinyl records are one of the few growth markets in music in recent years, and Northland vinyl hunters are in for a treat with the Whangārei Record Collectors Fair on again this month. The fair, put on by Indigo Records, will be at OneOneSix, Bank St, from 10am to 4pm on April 17. Steve Parrish, from Indigo Records, has more than 20,000 albums, EPs and singles with many on sale at the fair. The fair is supported by Creative Northland, OneOneSix and its in-house Beagle Radio (88.1), and the keen customers.

Not just any old shed but a Men s Shed, a place where men get together to share their skills, make things, repair things. The organisation that runs the Kerikeri Men s Shed applied for financial support from the 2019-20 Infrastructure Grand Fund and was successful, with the result that the Kapiro Rd premises has been fitted with a large woodwork area, a separate engineering workshop and a communal area with a kitchen.

Photo / File Northern Advocate A dozen paddlers were rescued after their waka capsized in waters off Tutukaka Coast yesterday morning. They were in two waka near Rahomaunu Island, southwest of Tutukaka, when the incident happened. Coastguard pulled them out of the water and brought them to the Tutukaka Marina. The water was calm at the time and there were no injuries. One waka was damaged but police attendance wasn t required. Unattended cooking causes fire Occupants of a house in Kaitaia were lucky firefighters arrived on time to put out a fire caused by unattended cooking. Firefighters cleared the house on Williams St of smoke about 4am on Saturday.
