Hawke Ventures Raises $5 6M Investment Fund

socaltech.com Hawke Ventures, a new, venture capital fund that is part of marketing company Hawke Media, said Friday that it has raised $5.6M for its first, venture capital fund. The new fund is being managed by Erik Huberman, Tony Delmercado, and Managing Partner Drew Leahy, along with angel investor Paige Craig. The company said it plans to write checks of between $100,000 and $250,000 in digital marketing startups.

He says not much has changed for a Black founder pitching today versus in 2009. When George Floyd was killed at the end of May, and protests for racial justice spread across the county, venture capitalists rushed to pledge their support, including commitments to start funds focused on diverse founders, promises to donate to racial-justice organizations, and offers of mentorship and support for Black founders.   Months have passed since then. Have these initiatives made a dent in how the venture-capital world does business? It s obviously too early to see much movement in the data on deals done and people hired, but it s not too soon to get a gut sense of the lived experience of Black founders raising money.
