Man held for ‘throwing out’ mother on street

PESHAWAR: The police arrested the son of an elderly woman who was allegedly thrown out of the house a few days ago.
The senior citizen died on Saturday.
The police said a case had been lodged against Shakil Ahmad, the son of the woman. The accused was arrested by the cops from the Paharipura Police Station.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had taken notice of the death of the senior citizen after she was allegedly thrown out of her home by her children apparently in injured condition.
An official said the chief minister ordered an inquiry into the incident as to how the woman was injured. The chief minister expressed grave concern over the poor treatment meted out to the woman by her family and ordered an inquiry into the incident. The video of the woman, who was found in a street, went viral on social media Saturday.
Acid attacks on women trigger concern

PESHAWAR: Many were concerned after two women were attacked with acid in Kohat and Peshawar in the last few days.
On Friday, a woman sustained burn injuries after she was attacked with acid in the limits of the Paharipura Police Station.
Police said the cops arrested the accused identified as Farhad living at the Afghan Colony in the provincial capital.
They said the accused attacked the woman after she refused to become his friend.
A few days ago, a young woman was attacked with acid in Kohat when she was asleep in her home.
