The Reading 275th Citizens' Bike Race & Ride, powered by Penn Entertainment, is scheduled for Aug. 27 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Fire Tower on Skyline Drive in Reading.

.Increasing Fire Danger Monday and Tuesday.
Fire danger will increase across the region Monday afternoon as
relative humidity values drop into the low to mid 20 percent range
and northwest winds gust 25 to 30 mph at times. This combination
of low humidity, warming temperatures, and gusty northwest winds
will produce favorable conditions for wildfires to ignite and
spread Monday afternoon into early evening.
On Tuesday, relative humidity values will again fall into the mid
20 percent range across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Northwest
Santa Claus finally came to Reading on Friday night.
Typically Santa makes his first appearance of the season during the Reading Holiday Parade but it was canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
With the assistance of the Reading fire and police departments, Santa was escorted throughout the city waving to people gathered along the route on a cold December evening.

Mayor Eddie Moran suspended issuing permits for large gatherings earlier this year in an effort to curb coronavirus infections, which is why the parade had to be canceled. He was happy he could still bring some joy to families Friday evening.Â
