PETALING JAYA: Further standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the tightened movement control order (MCO) announced by the Prime Minister on Monday (Jan 11) will only be revealed Tuesday (Jan 12), says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob. In his daily update, the Defence Minister said the Education Ministry, International Trade and Industry Ministry and the Works Ministry will also be issuing announcements on the various SOPs Tuesday. The Prime Minister has announced an MCO with tightened SOPs. However, I will only announce the details of the SOPs in my media conference tomorrow at 5pm, Ismail said Monday. On the routine updates, Ismail said there were 41,801 inspections on Sunday (Jan 10) by the compliance task force at supermarkets, restaurants, stalls, factories, banks and government departments as well as transport terminals.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 911 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 79,304. In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 2,062 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 97,389. ADVERTISEMENT Meanwhile, the only death of the day brings the toll to 439. A total of 17,646 people are still being treated, with 111 of them in the intensive care and 51 requiring respiratory assistance. The death involved a 69-year-old foreigner with pre-existing medical conditions who died in Labuan.
