While several campaigns highlight the effects of smoking, the pandemic has brought a renewed focus on public health issues like smoking, vaping, and substance abuse. The virus might pose a more considerable risk to such individuals.
COVID-19 causes a severe acute respiratory syndrome, while even healthy individuals are at risk of succumbing to virus if they are smokers or engage in vaping. The viral strain directly impacts the lungs, reduces its capacity, limits oxygen intake, and leads to ARDS and pneumonia.
